Eligibility

Wesway supports families who provide ongoing care to a family member at home. The caregiver and the person receiving care must live in the same home.

A person may be eligible for Wesway’s respite services if they:

  • have an Intellectual Developmental Disorder (IDD) and/or a physical disability and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or Alzheimer Disease or related dementia, resulting in a significant dependence and ongoing care from their caregiver; and
  • Live in Thunder Bay or within Wesway’s service area across Northern Ontario, including rural and remote communities.

Eligibility varies by program and may depend on age, diagnosis and the community where the caregiver and person receiving care live.
